All stock at br0ken.1n is bought from companies that intercept garment and textile waste before it goes to landfill. we started br0ken.1n to try create an example and show certain techniques of how we can reduce waste from the textile/garment industry. Even if it is on a smaller, DIY scale, we want to try maintain a circular economy between br0ken.1n and our customers. We love repairing and developing garments through out the duration of the garments life.
Our company offers hand selected, recycled and repaired vintage. All our staff undergo specialized br0ken.1n training before being qualified to work on any retail garments sold on this website. This insures consistant quality with repairs, garment construction, dyeing and hardware replacement. We embody the japanese ideology of Wabi Sabi as all items that undergo this process receive hands on, slow fashion techniques. This layering, patching and stitching of fabric emphasises the key signifiers of life and journey. These are expressed through the accumalation of inperfections discolouration and texture . All items require a certain time period to fulfil and are not replicatable. This means all items are 1/1, giving every garment its own characteristics. We do offer repairs and alterations and would rather you send us items to be repaired or altered instead of being disposed into landfill. Remember the beauty of general wear and tear enhances through out the longevity of a garments life.
With this in mind These garments have been br0ken.1n and pre loved. Giving clothing a new life insures a circular economy. By repairing and keeping resources in a closed loop system, we avoid creating further greenhouse gases caused by the energy needed for production. We utilise this to make a contribution, in all ways possible, tackling the current planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity and pollution.
